Autumn is the best time to visit a winery: after the September and October harvest the new wine is being made and the vineyards turn red and yellow.

Winery visits in three wine areas of inland Catalonia: five in Gandesa, in the heart of the Terra Alta; two in L'Espluga de Francolí, in the Conca de Barberà; and one in La Pobla de Cérvoles, in the Garrigues area of Lleida.
All of them are guided by the winery itself, with a walk through the vineyard or the winemaking room and a tasting at the end. They are not wine bars or indoor tastings: you go to the place where the wine is made.
Prices run from 10 € to 120 € per person, and what changes is the length and what you taste. The shortest are a visit with a guided tasting of 4 wines for 10 € (an hour and a half) or a tasting of 6 wines among art and vineyards for 21 € (one hour).
In Gandesa there is a full ladder on a single estate: a vineyard walk and 4 wines for 30 €, the 4 most emblematic wines for 45 €, a route through the white garnachas for 60 €, the same visit with a gourmet picnic among the vines for 80 € (three hours) and a long visit through the vineyards of an organic winery for 120 € (two and a half hours). In L'Espluga, the Gourmand visit adds lunch to the tasting for 48 €.
All of them are on request: you choose the day, pay by card and the amount is held —not charged— until the winery confirms, within 24 hours at most. If they cannot make that day, the hold is released and nothing is charged.
Each winery sets its own cancellation policy, written on the activity page before you pay. Once confirmed, the pass with a QR code arrives by email and the winery scans it when you arrive.
Between 10 € and 120 € per person. For 10 € there is a visit with a guided tasting of 4 wines; most visits with a vineyard walk cost between 30 € and 60 €, and the long ones or those with a meal between 48 € and 120 €.
