What a guided visit is and when it is worth it

A guided visit is a walk with a guide through a place you would otherwise see without understanding it: a historic university, a Roman necropolis, a medieval quarter, an area of mines and a castle. The guide supplies the thread — who built what and why it looks the way it does — and opens doors that stay shut without one.

It is a mid-morning or afternoon plan with no strenuous effort, suitable as a couple, with family or with someone seeing the next town over for the first time. Today the catalog has visits in Alcalá de Henares, Carmona, Barcelona and Pulpí, and it grows with every new listing.

Duration, prices and ages

Visits run from 90 minutes to a full day of about 6 hours. Per person it starts at 10 € (a historic university, 90 minutes; youths aged 12 to 16 pay 8 € and under-12s pay no admission) and 12 € (a Roman necropolis, children up to 13 at no charge), up to 44 € for the long day that combines olive oil, a castle and a geode.

For groups there is also a private format: a walk through a historic quarter with your own guide costs 155 € for up to 7 people, plus 12 € for each additional person, with a maximum of 15 per guide. Each listing states the language of the tour; today most are in Spanish.

How to book

Pick the visit, day and time on the listing and pay online by card. Departures have limited places per guide, so on weekends and long weekends it pays to look a few days ahead.

Once confirmed you get a pass with a QR code by email, which you show the guide at the meeting point. The exact meeting point and time are on the listing itself, and so is the cancellation policy.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a guided visit cost?

It depends on the visit: per person it starts at 10 € (a historic university, 90 minutes) and 12 € (a Roman necropolis) up to 44 € for the long day of about 6 hours. There is also a private format: 155 € for a group of up to 7 and 12 € for each additional person, with a maximum of 15 per guide.

How long does it last?

From 90 minutes for the shortest to about 6 hours for the long day. The exact duration is on each listing, next to the meeting point.

Can children come?

Yes. Age rates are on each listing: on several, under-12s pay no admission, youths aged 12 to 16 get a reduced price, and at the Roman necropolis children up to 13 pay nothing. On the long day, you count as an adult from age 8.

In what language are the visits?

Each listing states the language of the departure. Today most are in Spanish, and departures in another language say so on the time you pick.
