There are two ways to go tandem paragliding in the Canary Islands, one on each island. In Lanzarote, a flight over the north coast with a certified professional pilot who has been flying for more than twenty years: you choose the length, from 20 to 60 minutes. In Tenerife, a package leaving from Los Cristianos (Arona) that pairs a 20-minute tandem flight with a 2-hour kayak tour along the coast.
On both, the pilot handles take-off, flight and landing, and no previous experience is needed. The Lanzarote flight glides over cliffs, black-sand beaches and the Atlantic; the Tenerife package shows the island first from the air and then from the sea, in one day or split over two.
The meeting point depends on the area the wind allows that day and is confirmed before departure. The usual ones: the Playa de la Cantería car park in Órzola (also for Mirador del Río, from where a van takes you up to take-off); the LZ-1 road at Mala; and the roundabout on the Famara road, in Teguise. By public transport, pick-up is at the bus stop at Órzola port.
