Boat rental on the Costa Brava: today they all leave from Blanes

The rental speedboats you can book on the Costa Brava today all leave from the port of Blanes, the first town of the Costa Brava coming from the south. They are three boats with 80 to 115 hp engines, for 6 or 7 people, that need a Spanish boat licence (Licencia de Navegación) or higher, from 175 €.

Leaving from Blanes does not limit the route: with the smallest boat, Lloret de Mar is 15 minutes away and Tossa de Mar half an hour. On the way are Sa Palomera, the rock by the port that marks where the Costa Brava begins, the coves of Lloret and Cala Canyelles.

How far you can get from Blanes

Right out of the port you round Sa Palomera and the coast of cliffs and coves begins, running to Lloret, 15 minutes away. Past Lloret is Cala Canyelles, and half an hour from the port, Tossa de Mar, with its walled old town seen from the sea.

You choose between the three by seats and kit: the Mingolla Brava 19, 80 hp and up to 6 people, has GPS, a depth sounder and a water-sports arch; the Trimarchi 57S, 110 hp and 7 seats, has a double sundeck and a table for lunch at anchor. Both start at 175 €; the Pacific Craft 625, 115 hp and 7 seats, at 200 €.

How to book and what you need

All three are on request: when you pay, the amount is only authorised on your card, the centre confirms the boat and the time in under 24 hours and only then is it charged. If it cannot take that day, the authorisation is released at no cost.

To go out you need to show the boat licence or a higher qualification. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before on most listings; the exact deadline and what each model includes are written on its page before you pay.
