Go in with an official tourist guide to one of the best-preserved Roman cemeteries in Hispania, in groups of 10 people at most. We start at the Interpretation Centre, where you'll understand what ancient Carmo was and why this archaeological site is so valuable. Then we go down into the necropolis: mausoleums, rock-cut tombs and funerary monuments more than two thousand years old. We stop at the Tomb of the Elephant and the Tomb of Servilia, the two most remarkable on the site, and go over the beliefs and burial rituals of the Roman world.
